Local picks

From your front door to ours

Travelers,

Step 1. Book your flights. Fly into Puerto Vallarta International (PVR).

Suggested arrival: Tuesday, Nov 23, in time for the Welcome Dinner that evening. Suggested departure: Sunday, Nov 28. When you RSVP, we'll arrange contact with our travel agent. Or book yourself, either works.

Step 2. Passports & entry. Your passport should be valid for the full trip (most aim for 6 months past the return date). U.S. and Canadian citizens don't need a visa for tourism. You'll fill out the digital FMM form on arrival.

We strongly recommend travel insurance. Destination weddings are a long way to come if something goes sideways. Look for a policy that covers medical, cancellation, and lost baggage.

Step 3. Airport to resort. There will be a private vehicle or shuttle coordinated by us to take you straight from PVR to Hotel Playa Fiesta. No need to figure out taxis or Uber.

It's roughly a 1.5–2 hour drive, depending on traffic. The route hugs the Pacific coast on the way south, so settle in. When you RSVP, share your flight times and we'll match you to a shuttle.

Safe travels,

Phil & Kait

Money, phones & tips

Currency

Mexican peso (MXN). Most places at the resort and tourist areas accept USD and credit cards, but pesos help for tipping. Use bank-affiliated ATMs (BBVA, Santander) over standalone ones.

Tipping

Customary 15–20% at restaurants. Housekeeping: a few dollars or 50–100 pesos per day. Drivers and porters: $20–50 pesos.

Phones & data

Most US carriers (Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T) include Mexico in international plans. Otherwise, an eSIM (Airalo, Holafly) for $10–20 covers the week.

Time zone

Central Time (CST, UTC-6). Mexico does not observe daylight saving, so in November it's the same as US Central Time.

Weather

Glorious. Highs around 84°F (29°C), lows around 68°F (20°C), low humidity, almost no rain. The start of the dry season. Bring a light layer for evenings.

Language

Spanish is the official language. Most resort staff speak English. A few phrases (hola, gracias, por favor) go a long way. We'll include a phrase guide in your welcome bag.
